Art Work

Students travel behind the scenes and learn about fascinating career opportunities in an art museum. Students interact with participating art professionals from various departments within the museum and make connections between work in the arts and the core content areas of the curriculum.

Program Format

By traveling through a museum and talking to museum professionals such as curator, conservator, exhibition designer, and others, students experience the work involved securing and maintaining a collection,installing an exhibition, and programming for the public. The mobile camera will view areas of a museum not usually accessible to the public.

Objectives

  1. Students develop an awareness of the varied processes and functions associated withresearching, collecting, protecting, andexhibiting fine art.

  2. Students explore career opportunities in amuseum setting by dialoguing with museum professionals.

  3. Students understand the connection between thebroad spectrum of school disciplines and museum careers.
