A Special Distance Learning Program

“Frost/Nixon”
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
1:00 – 2:00 PM

Guests: Stacy Keach (Richard Nixon)
Alan Cox (David Frost)

Frost/Nixon tackles the question: How did David Frost, a famous British talk-show host, elicit the apology that the rest of the world was waiting to hear from former President Richard Nixon?

STACY KEACH has excelled in many of the classic and contemporary stage's greatest roles and has been called one of America's pre-eminent interpreters of Shakespeare. Mr. Keach began his professional career with the New York Shakespeare Festival in 1964. One of the most versatile stars of film, television and stage, Mr. Keach has appeared in numerous films, and is celebrated worldwide for his hit series as hard-boiled detective, Mike Hammer. He won a Golden Globe award and an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Ernest Hemingway.

Before attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, ALAN COX worked extensively as a child actor. Moving to the US in 2007, he made his Broadway debut in the Tony-nominated production of Translations by Brian Friel for the Manhattan Theatre Club and also appeared in Passion Play by Sarah Ruhl at the Goodman Theatre, Chicago. He and Stacy Keach previously worked together on a radio adaptation of "The Plutocrat" by Booth Tarkington.

Good Jobs with Great Pay in Advanced Manufacturing
A Videoconference on October 14 at 9:00 and 10:00

WVIZ in conjunction with MAGNET (Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network) is hosting a series of six distance learning programs focusing on the advanced manufacturing industry in Ohio. Advanced manufacturing today means robotics, bio-science, fuel cells and various types of engineering. It is estimated that there will be 60,000 advanced manufacturing jobs available in Ohio in the next 10 years.

Please register for our first program on Tuesday, October 14. Sessions are at 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Schools interested in participating in the program should register by October 9.
John R. Ramicone Director of Distance Learning Services-WVIZ/NOTA 1375 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44115 phone: 216-916-6360 fax: 216-916-6361 email: jramicone@ideastream.org

No matter what you read or hear, manufacturing is still the largest industry in Ohio. Advanced manufacturing today means robotics, bio-science, fuel cells, and all types of engineering. It's not old, dirty factories anymore, it's inventing, designing and making cool things like iPods, race cars or parts for the Space Shuttle. Ohio manufacturers are using the most innovative technologies available and offer great pay to employees, averaging 54,000 a year. These well-paying jobs require knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math. It's estimated that there will be 60,000 advanced manufacturing jobs available in Ohio in the next 10 years. Whatever their passion-computers, robotics, engineering or art-students can find a great career utilizing those skills in advanced manufacturing.
MAGNET, the manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network, encourages you to help students learn about the many challenging careers available right here, right now in advanced manufacturing in Ohio. As a state, Ohio is the third largest manufacturer in the country. Without a qualified workforce, Ohio will not be able to maintain this status and help our economy compete on a global basis. MAGNET will present six sessions on advanced manufacturing careers this school year. This series will kick off with an introductory session on Tuesday, October 14, dispelling the myths about manufacturing as a viable career option for today's students. 9:00 am - 9:45 am and 10:00 am - 10:45 am
