WVIZ Career Exploration Series "Careers in Construction-Trends in Building"

WVIZ/PBS & NOTA 2009-10 Career Exploration Series

“Careers in Construction: Trends in Building”

An enormous shift is underway in the United States due to major challenges facing us: rapidly rising energy prices and climate change. Within the construction sector of the U.S. economy there is a significant effort to address these challenges. Known simply as Green Building, this movement seeks to design, build, and operate facilities and homes that use far less energy and have less environmental impact.

Join this Careers in Construction program sponsored by Associated Builders and Contractors – Northern Ohio Chapter, to discover the latest trends and how you can start a career in construction that not only enables you to help shape the skyline of your community, but to also have a positive impact on the environment. You’ll learn about Green Building, LEED and new applications in the field.

Presenters:

Michelle Kilroy Program and Resource Coordinator, Northeast Ohio Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Martin J. Pangrace LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate, is one of only 351 LEED accredited attorneys in the United States.

Scott Givens Vice President of Operations, M.W. Mielke, Inc., a contractor that provides a full range of mechanical services.
