Grades 7-12: Careers in Medical Lab Technology

Career in Health Care Series

Program:

"Careers in Medical Lab Technology"
The MLT performs testing on blood and body fluids to determine the presence, extent or absence of disease and provide data needed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. MLT's are responsible for the operation of computers, precision instruments and other complex electronic equipment that is used in the clinical laboratory. Most Medical Laboratory Technologists work in hospitals, but many other MLT’s are employed in clinics, in forensic laboratories and industrial laboratories. Today a shortage of qualified laboratory employees exists.
